BORTHWICK PARK

Public BBQ

Tucked away like Kensington's best-kept secret, Borthwick Park rewards those persistent enough to find it. This tranquil pocket of green sits alongside Second Creek, where native plants attract a delightful chorus of local birdlife - perfect for a spot of meditation between the eucalypts. The park delivers beautifully for families, with two playgrounds, generous grassy areas for a kick-about, and both covered and open picnic spots complete with barbecues. The large undercover area provides proper shelter for those inevitable South Australian weather surprises. Dogs are thoroughly welcome here, making it ideal for shorter walks along the creek. While the native surroundings and historical significance add genuine character, there's one notable oversight: no toilets. This creates a rather pressing concern when visiting with children, so plan accordingly. Despite this shortcoming, the park's peaceful atmosphere and well-maintained facilities make it a worthy discovery for those seeking a quieter alternative to the usual suburban barbecue spots.
